An 11-month project designed to explore roles of the Teacher and Librarian – how do they support each other and promote student learning through hands-on exploration in makerspaces.   2. Co-Principal Investigator. Preserving Montagnard Refugee Cultural Heritage through Intergenerational Dialogue. A 3-month project designed to understand and preserve the cultural heritage of a unique language community by collecting oral history from community elders, and facilitating intergenerational dialogue. Funded by the Coalition of Diverse Language Communities Fellowship, The University of North Carolina at Greensboro, School of Education. 2013. (PI: Clara Chu, Co-PI: Nora Bird) Amount Funded: $3,000.
  3. Co-Principal Investigator, International Internship Survey, Resource and Marketplace. A 12-month project to survey library and information science (LIS) programs around the world to learn of guidelines and policies for internships and create a multilingual website for information/data sharing. An 8-month project designed to provide a technical platform to improve MLIS students’ understanding of digital technologies.   6. Liaison for Valdosta State University. The GALILEO Knowledge Repository: Advancing the Access and Management of Scholarly Digital Content. A 36-month statewide initiative in partnership with University of Georgia, Georgia Tech, and Georgia State University to build, test, and launch a replicable collaborative institutional repository model.   2. Co-Principal Investigator, Project APRCH: A Community-Grounded Approach to Understanding Preservation of the Cultural Heritage of Refugee Communities. A 12-month planning grant designed to ask refugees to speak in their own voice, attaining agency, about the direction they wish to take in the preservation of their (refugee) cultural heritage. Grant proposal submitted to the Institute of Museum and Library Services. 2012 – 2013. (PI: Clara Chu). Amount Requested: $73,752
  3. Co-Principal Investigator, Usability evaluation of VAWnet as a dissemination channel to domestic violence service providers.  A 5-year project designed to conduct a comprehensive usability evaluation of VAWnet, the premier online dissemination channel for domestic violence information, within the context of domestic violence service providers’ jobs.   4. Principal Investigator, Project Access: Making computer and e-commerce literacy more accessible for refugee communities. A 12-month project designed to create a livelihood for refugee women living at Avalon and Glen Haven by helping them market their products to the greater Greensboro community and beyond.
